The identity audit
The identity audit is a targeted tnquiry practice to help you unearth the various layers of your identity. This is useful for clearly articulating who you are and what you stand for in you work, and it's also critical for finding the others.
But more than that, when paired with a resonance review, it can help you discern which aspects of your identity are alive and meaningful for you in the present, and which are relics of a bygone era, and holding you back from where you want to go.
We all have the capacity for self-renewal, and to evolve our stories of who we are. This is one way we can pass the deathbed test—by letting go of that which no longer serves us, and choosing a story that we're proud to live.
Basic steps for inquiry sessions
- Review the instructions for Targeted Inquiry
- Choose either Freewriting or Freespeaking for your session
- Review the questions and prompts below
- Set a timer for 10-20 minutes
- Dump out everything that comes to mind in relation to the prompts. No stopping until the time's up.
- (Optional) Repeat the exercise with a prompt you haven't explored yet, and see if it takes you in new directions.
Important reminder: Just because an idea surfaces during an inquiry session, doesn't mean it's true, or that you have to believe it. You're invited to hold anything you discover here lightly, and with a wee bit of skepticism. Take what's useful and resonant, and discard the rest.
